COMFORTABLE APARTMENT IN THE OLD TOWN
About this listing
Recently renovated first floor apartment in the historic Old Town of San Sebastian. The building dates from the 1800s. Equipped with all mod cons, it contains some unique architectural features providing a comfortable space where new meets old. It has 3 spacious bedrooms with double beds and 1 bathroom, and free WiFi.
The neighbourhood is lively with pintxo (Basque tapas) bars, shops and activity. The apartment is very centrally located, immediate to the Boulevard Avenue, on a quiet street away from the busier areas in the Old Town. There is a supermarket just outside the building. La Concha beach, the most iconic beach in San Sebastian, is only a stroll away (4 minutes walking distance), and so is la Zurriola, the surfers beach (8 minutes walking distance).
We finished our renovation works in the summer 2016, so the place is new and comfortable. It is fully furnished and has a fully equipped modern kitchen. It is centrally heated and contains all modern commodities, television and high speed Wi-Fi. A cot is also provided. The renovation works carried out were sensitive to the historic nature of the building and, as such, retained a lot of the original timber features. Although this building has no elevator, the access to the apartment is only a short trip up one floor of stairs.
The apartment has 3 spacious bedrooms; all of them with comfortable king size double beds. The maximum capacity is 6 guests. It is ideal for families, friends and visitors that require a comfortable base in a central location within walking distance from all amenities. The two main bedrooms contain small balconies facing onto the narrow pedestrian street of San Jeronimo. The smaller bedroom is at the back, and faces onto an open yard.
A number of convenience shops can be found in the immediate vicinity, including a small supermarket just around the corner. The dynamic and beautiful Plaza de la Constitución is two minutes away and there are a large number of landmarks and sightseeing places in the area such as the Town Hall, the harbour and beaches, the San Telmo Museum or the Kursaal auditorium and conference centre. There is no private parking but you will find a public parking 100m away, in the Boulevard Avenue. Parking fees start from €12/ day.

The Old Town is the main gastronomic attraction in San Sebastian. Here you will find the best pintxo bars and restaurants, all-fresco terraces, traditional shops and local crafts, and night life. The neighbourhood is lively throughout the year, but particularly so in the summer months. Locals and tourists alike share the enjoyment of food in the over 200 pintxo bars that can be found in the area. There is a kid playground, a cinema, several museums, a shopping mall and, indeed, beaches at very short walking distances from the apartment.
The Old Town is adjacent to the charming fishermen’s harbour. The harbour is aligned with beautiful old houses under which you can find a number of traditional and tasty fish restaurants. On the opposite side of the Old Town is the river Urumea, a historical battle ground, nowadays aligned with romantic Belle Epoque buildings, including the Victoria Eugenia theatre and the iconic Kursaal bridge.
The apartment is at walking distance from all main attractions in San Sebastian. For longer trajectories (e.g. to mount Igeldo, one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe and the location of San Sebastian’s watch tower, or to the newly opened Tabacalera art museum), public buses and taxis can be accessed at the Boulevard Avenue, two minutes from the apartment.
